The opportunity

This is a key post that will contribute to The Openwork Partnership’s vision to be recognised as a leader in the development of a qualified and capable community of financial advice professionals across the UK.

Digital learning has progressed to cover a wide range of formal course-based e-learning packages and products, together with a huge variety of complementary or alternative techniques, such as sharing knowledge or links to resources via social/interactive media sites and viewing/participating in online lectures, webinars, podcasts, or blogs. More recent trends include the development of gaming technology to support learning, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and the use of cloud computing, that give the potential to deliver learning according to user needs via the Internet rather than by in-house computing systems.

The newly established Openwork Business School (OBS) seeks an experienced digital learning professional with a track record of innovation who will work with colleagues in the OBS to recognise the advantages available in utilising some of the developments outlined above and to develop a strategic approach to technology-enhanced learning.

This is a new and important appointment, and the job holder will work closely with the Programme Directors and L&D Business Partner to further develop technological capability and provide solutions for the enhancement of learning and the delegate experience through the facilitation of innovation, creativity, and knowledge transfer regarding e-learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review existing digital interventions to identify where alternative technological solutions are more appropriate and deliver alternatives.

    • wider access, particularly to the Partnership firms
    • more modular approach to learning for busy professionals
    • solutions for post-Covid working pattern changes.

  • Contribute to the development of standards for the deliverables and ensure that standards of development and delivery are in line with OBS expectations.
  • Contribute to the continuing development and implementation of learning and development strategy at the OBS.
  • Disseminate best practice across the Openwork partnership.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Substantial experience in designing digital L&D solutions and associated technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of digital solutions to learning and development within a similar environment.
  • Experience of working in a partnership-type environment and the challenges in delivering to a geographically diverse network comprising Partnerships and HO employees.
  • High level interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships and to influence and guide Programme Directors and the Development Consultant in the identification and resolution of digital solutions learning and development needs.
  • Ability to work constructively within the OBS, particularly with the Programme Directors, to balance delivery needs with available resources.
  • Ability to deliver innovation in a budget-constrained environment.
