The opportunity

The main responsibility of this Data Warehouse Manager is to lead The Openwork Partnership's Data Warehouse team, who are responsible for building a modern data warehouse, aligned to best practice, and providing high quality data to the business for informed decision making.

You will manage and develop an agile team to help deliver a world class data solution for The Openwork Partnership that will help unlock insights to drive the business forward.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Swindon office. The role will be largely remote but will require some time in the office.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a highly productive and knowledgeable agile Data Warehouse team. Lead the team to be experts in their field and fulfil their career ambitions.
  • Define the strategy for development and support of the Openwork Data warehouses.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of best practices, including delivery, coding, and configuration in line with the quality, regulatory and security needs of Openwork, its advisors, and clients.
  • Manage the day-to-day relationships with Technology to ensure data delivery is reliable, high quality and good value.
  • Develop and embed robust support processes for data and the data warehouse. Ensure alignment to compliment production procedures and in collaboration with 1st/2nd line support teams and SLA’s.
  • Work with teams across Technology to standardise effective support, communication, and acceptance into service governance.Focusing meeting both SLA’s and the needs of the end user.
  • Coordinate delivery of outputs together with the data team and wider as required (liaising with the customer, business units and external suppliers).
  • Drive continuous improvement to optimise productivity and operational performance.
  • Drive forums that encourage a data community and assist in identification and prioritisation of data and BI outputs.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Experience managing and working in an Agile team, delivering data warehouse / MI change.
  • Proven track record of delivery through technical teams working with consultants, architects, and senior development/ETL leads.
  • Knowledge of modern Data Warehouse, Reference data, and MI/BI development.
  • Experience in modern platform and cloud-based Microsoft Data warehouse Solutions including SQL & Azure.
  • Technology architecture and domain-driven design.
  • Preferable Qualified Scrum Master (CSM), Scrum Professional (CSP), or equivalent experience.
  • Good understanding of the UK financial services marketplace & GDPR.
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills.
  • People leadership, performance management, mentoring and coaching.
  • Public Presentation of Technical ideas/Practices experience.
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills with the ability to influencing people and work collaboratively.
  • Customer focused.
  • Agile development / DevOps / CI/CD.
  • Management of budgets and investment.
  • Strategic & leadership visioning.
  • Analytical thinking and technically conversant.
  • Technical product awareness & improvement.
