What you’ll be responsible for

You’ll provide visible, credible leadership across technical and advice skills training, combining strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing and continuously improving adviser‑focused learning interventions across the Partnership, including:
    • Adviser licensing
    • IT capability
    • Project management skills
    • Wider advice and technical training
  • Ensuring OBS remains aligned with evolving regulatory requirements across regulated advice, mortgage and wealth businesses.
  • Line‑managing technical and advice skills training managers, providing strong leadership, coaching and development, and ensuring effective cross‑cover and day‑to‑day delivery.
  • Reviewing and enhancing learning interventions to ensure quality, relevance and alignment with business demand.
  • Project‑managing new programme developments, including digital learning initiatives and structured learning pathways.
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders across the Partnership to understand business challenges and translate them into effective learning solutions.
  • Representing OBS internally and externally at conferences, industry events and peer forums.
  • Managing delegated non‑pay budgets, ensuring value for money and effective resourcing.
  • Providing clear monthly progress reporting aligned to agreed strategic objectives.
  • Working collaboratively to plan and publish the annual advice training delivery programme.
  • Helping shape the future of learning at Openwork, including contributing to the development of internal accreditation programmes and learning effectiveness frameworks.

What will you need to succeed?

We’re looking for a confident, credible leader with a strong blend of regulatory knowledge, learning expertise and stakeholder influence. You’ll bring:

  • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks within a regulated advice, mortgage or wealth environment.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • A strong understanding of learning and development in a professional services or partnership‑based environment.
  • Proven experience operating across networks or member‑firm models, balancing central strategy with local delivery.
  • Confidence as a public speaker, with the ability to represent the business internally and externally.
